The release date for Lord of Shadows (TDA book #2) is May 23, 2017! Here’s the placeholder cover and a couple snippets:
This snippet focuses on Anna Lightwood, daughter of Gabriel and Cecily Lightwood, in The Last Hours, the first of which (Chain of Gold) is set to come out in 2017. Cassandra Jean has also done a drawing of Anna Lightwood I have included.
If you remember from Lady Midnight, Kit Rook actually turned out to be Kit Herondale, the Lost Herondale. And Tiberius Blackthron is one of the 15-year-old twins of the Los Angeles Institute. Apparently, Kit and Ty are going to be pretty close for the rest of The Dark Artifices. Cassandra Clare comments, “Kit and Ty are planned to have a really significant relationship. That is literally all I can say. I genuinely feel anything else is a spoiler.” She posted this snippet with her comment on the pair:
This is a snippet from the second book in The Dark Artifices, set to come out April 2017! It has a good description of the King of the Seelie Court, who I have a feeling will play a big part in The Dark Artifices books to come. Also included is a drawing of the King by Cassandra Jean!
Apparently, in Lord of Shadows, Kit and Ty are going to have a very important relationship, so here’s a small snippet with the two of them in it.
This is a cute snippet from The Dark Artifices book #2 due to release in April 2017. I find it cute because of a certain warlock baby featured.
And even odder, when Mark and Kieran had come into the library, Kieran had gone immediately over to Max and picked him up, delighted by his blue skin and his tiny horns.
Max had stuck his hand into Kieran’s wavy hair and pulled. Kieran had just laughed. “That’s right, it changes color, little nixie-like warlock,” he said. “Look.” And his hair went from blue-black to blue in an instant. Max giggled.
“I didn’t know you could do that on purpose,” said Mark, who had always thought of Kieran’s hair as a reflection of his moods, uncontrollable as the tides.
“You don’t know a lot of things about me, Mark Blackthorn,” Kieran said, setting Max down.
Alec and Magnus had exchanged a look at that, the sort of look that made Mark feel as if they had reached a silent and agreed-upon consensus …
Now that Lady Midnight is out, it’s time to start getting hyped for the next Dark Artifices book, Lord of Shadows! This is due to be released April 2017 as of right now. Cassandra Jean has already started releasing snippets from the upcoming book, so here’s one featuring a new ship introduced in Lady Midnight, along with a Cassandra Jean picture for that ship!
Here’s a snippet from The Last Hours, coming out in 2018!
From where they were, they had a perfect view of James, standing straight and polite as Tatiana Blackthorn, wearing a faded fuschia dresses stained with dark spots, advanced on him, a witchlight torch in her hand.
“How dare you come here, Will Herondale,” she said, a savage tone to her voice. “What is left for you to destroy? You murdered my husband and my father —“
Lucie made a small whimpering noise. Cordelia clutched at her cold hand, squeezing it for comfort.
“That’s James.” It was Grace, dressed all in a long white nightgown with a white dressing-gown over it. White slippers covered her feet and her blonde hair was loose, falling over her shoulders. “It isn’t Mr. Herondale, Mama. It’s his son.”

As Tavvy slept, Julian reached for the law book he’d taken from the library. It was a book he’d looked at so many times before that it now always fell open to the same well-worn page. On Parabatai, it said. He’d read it a hundred times.
It is decreed that those who have undergone the ceremony of parabatai and are forever bound by the terms of the oaths of Saul and David, of Ruth and Naomi, shall not enter into marriage, shall not bear children together, and shall not love each other in the manner of Eros, but only the manner of Philia or Agape.

Emma felt the anger uncurl in her stomach again, but this time it was directed at Mark.
“Jules?” Tavvy asked, sounding nervous, and Julian passed a hand over his face. It was a nervous habit, as if he were wiping an easel free of paint; when he dropped his hand, the fear and emotion had gone from his eyes.
“I’m here,” he said, and went over to pick up Tavvy. Tavvy put his head down on Jules’ shoulder, looking sleepy, and getting paint all over Jules’ t-shirt. But Jules didn’t seem to care. He put his chin down in his younger brother’s curls and smiled at Emma.
“Forget it,” he said. “I’m going to take this one off to bed. You should probably get some sleep, too.”
But Emma’s veins were buzzing with a sharp elixir of anger and protectiveness. She could almost taste it in her mouth, like a bitter copper penny. No one hurt Julian. No one. Not even his much-missed, much-loved brother.
“I will,” she said. “I’ve got something to do, first.”
Julian’s verdigris eyes narrowed. “Emma, don’t try to —”
But she was already gone.
